What do you know by Kalpathi village in Kerala state in India?

Kalpathi can also be called as Kalpathy and it is one among the several villages situated near Palakkad in Kerala state in India. Kalpathy is known as Dakshin Kasi or the Varanasi of the south and it is an early Tamil Brahmin settlement known as agraharam in the Palakkad district of present Kerala state.
Kalpathy is very famous for Kalpathi Ratholsavam, a temple car festival held each year at Shri Visalakshmi Sametha Sri Viswanatha Swamy temple where the deity is known as Lord Siva (Lord Viswanatha).
Kalpathy is located  at 3 km from Palakkad town and consists of Old Kalpathy and New Kalpathy.
On the eastern side of Viswanatha Swamy Temple, Palakkad lies the New Kalpathy Village which consists of homes built mostly of thatched roofing. It belonged perhaps to the last batch of Tamil Brahmin migrants. Harassed by frequent fire, loss of life and property, the villagers consecrated a temple dedicated to Lord Maha Ganapathy to ward off "Sivadrishti". The idol of Mahaganapathy resting under a Banyan tree near a tank lying on the eastern side of this village (Manthakkara) was installed facing Lord Shiva (in Sri Viswanatha temple).
The residents of this village were well known scholars of Vedas & Shastras and purohits well versed in their profession. Most of the surrounding villages of Palakkad town used to depend upon them for conducting the Vedic rituals. Any doubt on observations of rituals and interpretations of sastras used to be debated and decided here. This village is also the birthplace of many professionals, musicians, scientists and men of letters.
New Kalpathy village was a citadel of Vedic culture and Sanathana dharma. It has produced numerous scholars of Vedas and Vedangas. They are still being remembered by villagers with reverence and devotion. Their academic excellence was well  recognized by both Shringeri and Kanchi Sankaracharya Mutts. This village sent the largest contingent of delegates of Veda scholars to attend the All India Sanathana Conference held at Kasi during 1932-33.
The biggest festival of this place is known as annual car festival(kalpathy theru). This is celebrated in a very grand manner and during such festival occasions, relatives used to come from far off places and stay there to enjoy and get the blessings of the Lord Viswanatha.

Modern Period:
During the recent times, on account of many changes which took place in the activities of men and women and their involvement in various academic pursuits,  many new housing colonies have sprung up in and around Kalpathi. One such colony is Kailas Nagar where some of the eminent citizens of Palakkad have built their homes. Kailas Nagar  also has the distinction of running a school for special children called as "Chaitanya School". Mrs. BhagyaLaxmi of Kailas Nagar has taken keen interest in establishing this school and nurturing it.
The pressure of modern aspirations and altered lifestyle is taking its toll on the heritage value of Kalpathy. Old buildings are slowly yielding way to new concrete structures. To preserve whatever is left, the State Tourism Department had taken up the Kalpathy Heritage Walk scheme. It is a Rupees two crore project aimed at restoring the old structures which are present in the village and the project is underway.

- Muthukumar subbukutty

Fraud ATM transaction with my atm card number, even ATM card was with us. How can I get money back?

Query: Brother in foreign is using axis bnk atm debit card. Got sms of withdrwl for 2 day in small amnts. Our card ws nt used still shwing our no in trnsction. 65000/- withdrwn. Complained in bnk but nt geting confident response. Wht are possible steps 2 recover money back.?

Answer:

Recently a large number of frauds had taken place and are also taking place in automated teller machines.
This is very simple.
You might have used the debit card somewhere - automated teller machine or point of sale terminal with a business unit
In the case of automated teller machine, the miscreants attach a small attachment with the card insertion slot and it can be rarely seen from outside; however while inserting the card, the cardholder can find some difference - some jerk or some difficulty in inserting the card. The attachment captures all the data from the cards inserted.
The miscreant takes back the device and he decodes the message through one card reading machine and he is able to get the entire details just like a bank ledger.
He picks up the cards where more number of funds are available and duplicate cards are generated and using these cards they withdraw the money.
Your card will be at Chennai and the amount will be withdrawn at Cairo or Canberra. How this takes place? Of course, the software data is sold to foreign clients and they generate cards and take out the money.
Recently RBI had come out with clear instructions that commercial banks should pay the money withdrawn fraudulantly from the automated teller machines within three days from the date of receipt of complaint from the customer.
You have to complain and you should complain providing all the details.
And you should send a letter now itself because for non submission of the complaints within the stipulated time means - you are accepting the transaction. Go to RBI website and read their instructions in this connection.
I am providing herewith a format of letter for your use and fill up the details and submit the letter in person or by registered post or by speedpost.

What is the procedure while the debit card has been fraudulantly used in automated teller machine?

Question: I am having a debit card pertaining to ABC bank and I wanted to withdraw cash using my debit card with one automated teller machine. I was not able to withdraw cash since the funds was found to be insufficient. I got one mini statement and I found that an amount has been withdrawn from an automated teller machine using my debit card. How to proceed in this case?

Answer:
You had not used your debit card for withdrawal from the automated teller machine. It means that some miscreants might have prepared a duplicate card for your debit card and might have withdrawn amount from the automated teller machine

You have to immediately lodge a complaint letter with your bank branch in this connection and you should furnish the details of your entire transactions in the letter. The bank should find out as to whether the withdrawal was through original debit card or a fake card.

The format of letter has been produced hereinbelow and you can make use of the card by furnishing the requisite details in the letter:

How the debit cards can be fraudulantly used?

01. You are having your debit card. Knowingly or unknowingly you had noted down the PIN number on the back side of the card in the white portion for easy remembrance. Now you had lost the card while on transit. Somebody takes the card and he goes to the nearest ATM and withdraws the maximum amount permitted for the day using the PIN number mentioned in the card. In this situation, immediately you have to contact the toll free number available in your bank automated teller machine and lodge a complaint and they will immediately black list the card. For the amount paid by the machine, you have to file separate FIR with the Police explaining the details about the loss of card.
02. You are going to get petrol for your vehicle and you are providing the debit card for payment of money. Apart from the handheld machine, without your knowledge, the delivery boy inserts the debit card in another machine which is a pin reader. Now the pin reader captures all details from the card and a duplicate debit card is prepared and the amount is withdrawn from the machine. In this case, you have nothing to do; however, on finding out the loss of money, you have to report to toll free number or your branch to blacklist the card.
The debit card and credit card users have certain responsibilities in protecting their cards and keeping secret the details about PIN number. This apart, the customer should not allow any other person to use his debit card and he should ensure that the debit card is utilised in his physical presence only
